ABOUT US
What is Emerald City
Welcome to Emerald City Communications
Emerald City is a graphic design company with a twist. We specialize in arts, advocacy, environmental, and public-sector clients, as well as design for creative businesses large and small.
Our projects range from dance company flyers to civic annual reports; from sexy bike month campaigns to political billboards. It's an eccentric mix, but Emerald City's clients have one thing in common: they are passionate about the work they do. We collaborate with them to express their ideas in images and words, and to communicate that passion to a wider world.
We approach every project with humour, curiosity, and care.
Not Yaletown
Our sunny studio overlooks Pigeon Park in the historic Carrall Building, at the corner of Carrall Street and East Pender in Vancouver.
Until the 1940's the massive brick edifice served as headquarters to the BC Electric Company, and was the hub of the city's electric trolleycar system. The trolleys entered and exited right through the building's great gothic arches. The Carrall Building has since been re-wired as a high-tech communications hub, but it remains an unofficial transit museum, its hallways lined with transit memorabilia and the graceful vaulted foyer hung with fascinating historic photos.
Note: our street address is Suite 205 - 425 Carrall, but the entrance is off East Pender Street. Sometimes visitors get confused.
What we do
Emerald City provides identity development, graphic design and production, art direction, illustration, copy writing, editing, and marketing consultation.
Our projects have comprised complete identity packages and multi-component campaigns, as well as portable display units, bus ads, posters, umbrellas, temporary tattoos and coffee mugs. Emerald City has also edited and produced several ongoing periodicals and newsletters. We're always keen to wrap our heads around a new challenge.
We thrill in collaborating with a variety of videographers, illustrators, photographers, web designers, and talented eccentrics of all stripes.
Who we are
